Linux Mint 21 features MATE 1.26, a Linux kernel 5.15 and an Ubuntu 22.04 package base.
It's now built on SASS and supports applications which use dark-mode. It’s big on distrowatch right now but I think is a relatively small community (Zorin too, for that matter).įor the support concerns I think they’re all going to be good for a while, they are all based on Ubuntu or Debian so have a strong foundation. Initial GTK4 support was added in the Mint-Y and Mint-X themes. I try not to get too attached to unique tools. They have some unique utilities and tools and good documentation to go with them. I like systemd and they don’t use it, so that’s something that personally keeps me away. Their different Gnome layouts are slick, also itis Gnome still which is something I like. They try to make it easy for Windows converts so have a nice utility for configuring wine. I haven’t heard anything yet about an updated one for 22.04. Version 16 is based on Ubuntu 20.04, which is still supported but older. Zorin is a small company, LinkedIn says about 10 employees. Mint Cinnamon is very clean and distraction free for working. Click screenlets in the list that displays. You do not need to press Enter, because the results displays as you type. In each case select the Ubuntu version, then scroll down and download the binary (.deb). Enter screenlet (without the quotes) in the search box in the upper, right corner of the Software Manager window. Use the search box to find each of those packages.

Mint has been around a long time and has a strong community. To install the Screenlets program, select Other Software Manager from the Applications menu. That list I personally would probably go Mint, Zorin, MX.
